Did not expect myself to earn status with a program that’s not AAdvantage or World of Hyatt this year, but alas it’s been a weird 2025.

Fortunately I’m flying via Chicago next week. No A350 delays for me, and possibly the last JAL 777 flight of my life 😁

Didn’t think about the crew, that’s a good point.

That said I think they are retiring the 777s pretty quickly given how slow the A350 deliveries are going to be moving forward.

They’ve been retiring their 777s very quickly (already retired 4 over the past year, IIRC).

And yes, they should be swapping for an older 777; JAL should put aside passenger experience (and the 777s still aren’t even that bad) when people are overseas and can’t get home.

Wonder how long it’ll take.

On another note, I really won’t be surprised if their 11th A35K delivery gets delayed. Scheduled delivery is by March, still no movement/sighting for MSN 756 at Airbus as of today.

Shortage of widebodies are not uncommon in Japan right now:

ANA has a severe 777 shortage from retiring too many aircraft prematurely during the pandemic, and 777X delays. “Middle cost carriers” like Air Do, Skymark, etc run pretty much at a 100% aircraft utilization

And here’s a random airplane photo from my phone

Nice lineup. 788 was mine last year.

Makes sense given you’re ORD!

The 767-400 is a good one!

Aside from AA for me, Flighty itself also says I was E175, but the A350-1000 wasn’t far behind.

First for me also. Never seen this before

Departures are mostly fine here at Logan this morning, aside from NYC flights

Fortunately only a coating to 2 inches forecasted today. Deicing fluid in the works, nonetheless.
