Special paint units at Altoona currently are the Illinois Terminal, Wabash, and NS 1800. We heard the IT is getting a repaint.

NS 6446 is indeed a slug master. Confirmed today. We believe it’s the first slug master in the SD40-3 series on NS.

Here’s a look at NS 6446, the freshest SD40-3 rebuild. Notice it’s coupled to a slug. We’re not sure yet if this unit was also modified as a slug master. This was the unit involved in an unfortunate fatal incident in Decatur, AL.
