779. Leonard Cohen - Songs Of Love And Hate - 0/10

I have a theory that Leonard Cohen is actually quite good if you play him at 1.5x speed. As published, his singing sounds like a torn hovercraft struggling over a carpet of aluminium kitchen utensils. Awful.

"Down with data centres!"
...is the name of my new video that definitely isn't hosted in a data centre.

778. The Rolling Stones - The Rolling Stones [1964] - 0/10

"I'm a 'king bee", sings Jagger. No, mate, on the basis of this 'king performance, you're a 'king D minus. "Can I Get A Witness" he asks later. Yes, m'lud. It was him. Take him away and clap him in 'king irons. 'King Awful.

It's precisely the ability to see ourselves as another might see us that will give us a grip on what minds are.
Things like epistemology are going mainstream and so here for it.
December 16, 2025 at 5:16 PM
I don't think so. I think we have an idea of minds that future generations will see as laughably primitive. I think it's the development of AI-like programs that will bring the philosophy of minds into the mainstream and foster new arguments for what minds are. We finally have a mirror we can use.

So many idiots in this thread who very obviously haven't read the article and are reacting only to the headline

777. Ella Fitzgerald - Sings The George And Ira Gershwin Song Book - 0/10

A few tracks in comes "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off" and, well, yes. Sadly there were fucking dozens of tracks. Scores of them. This isn't an album, it's a whole song and dance. Awful.

Of course, at a depth of 7m they'll have to work quickly because they'll need oxygen. The fastest way to get the Earth onto the boat is to flip the boat over.

Peak force of 450N.
Assuming an average US adult male and female at about 170kg, a wooden boat of 90kg, displacing about 0.3m^3. They scoop up water til the boat is full, then pull on the line. ~2550N weight vs ~3000N upthrust. They will land the whole earth without too much trouble.

I feel like in some ways they would be happier having something that other people actually do give a shit about. And so would the rest of us who just want to have a chocolate egg and not worry too much about all that Jesus business.

There is some level of anxiety in the UK about Easter. I think it's largely confected by right wingers keen on stoking outrage at the erasure of "our" Christian heritage.

My fantasy: transport them to the 7th Century so they can get involved in the debates about the date of Easter.

776. Madonna - Like A Prayer - 0/10

Like a prayer, it's just words into the void. And if anybody *is* listening, they don't really care. I listened, and I was ready to deliver some proper Old Testament smiting by the end of it. Unholy.

775. Pixies - Bossanova - 0/10

As music goes this is the gastronomic equivalent of sitting and finishing a meal you were too stuffed to even start. Bite after bite you force it down despite intense nausea, and any good excuse for doing so having long sailed the docks of reason. Awful.

The only thing that can conquer them is the return of The Return of the King, in which the king, by turns, returns.
