TAAP Oathbringer Episode 7 spoilers without context:
A YouTube thumbnail for a playthrough of the Lord of the Rings text adventure game, a thing I didn't know existed until Sam enlightened me during this episode. In 8-bit pink-ish font, the words "LORD OF THE RINGS" are emblazoned across the screen. Scattered across it are small snippets of text from the game itself. They read "You attack Sam." "you cleave his skull." "The dogs attack and kill Pippin." "You can see 3 Black Riders." "You become a ring-wraith." I am...so intrigued. What dogs. What did Pippin do. Whose skull are you cleaving. And why is "you can see 3 black riders" on par with Pippin getting mauled to death by dogs. A screenshot from the game Signalis. The pixelated graphics show the protagonist standing in front of....well, I'll be real, it's bad to look at. The in-game caption reads "There's a gaping hole in the pulsing flesh." He's wearing a lion's pelt in his victory. Except that lion's pelt is Scar, beloved villain from The Lion King. I think this is deeply funny but I am also deeply confused on why Disney allowed this. They're so precious about their brand and characters that I really didn't think they would be like "oh, yeah, our heroic protagonist can wear the dead skin of one of our other characters. that's fine." The top of the famous ClickHole article - "Heartbreaking: The Worst Person You Know Just Made A Great Point." It was written on 2/05/18 at 11:18am, and filed to: WOW. The man in question is pictured staring down the camera, brow slightly furrowed. I'll be real, this is obviously an incredible and formative article that I reference extremely often - but I have seen people with more punchable faces in my life.

TAAP Oathbringer Episode 6 spoilers without context:
The cover of House of Leaves, A Novel by Mark Z. Danielewski. It shows a sort of maze that spirals in at the center to a compass logo, while off to the side is a mish-mash image of staircases and sort of...house stuff. The word "House" is in blue font, while the rest is in white. Have I used House of Leaves as one of these spoilers before?? If I did and I forgot, it feels thematically appropriate for House of Leaves if nothing else. Anyway, everyone go watch "MyHouse.WAD" on YouTube by Power Pak. But maybe during the daylight if you get scared. Not that I'd know. A still from the Marx Brothers film Duck Soup. It's THEE scene from that movie - the mirror scene. Groucho and Harpo (dressed as Groucho) Marx are on either side of an open doorway, as if there's a mirror in between them as they mimic each others every move. The fact that Justin and I were raised on quite a bit of Marx Brothers should probably track given the sense of humor we've developed. A certification card with blue borders, a white background, and black text against it. It is, of course, from the National Forklift Foundation (dot com) as it's a Forklift Certification document. The left-hand side has details like the Certification ID, award date, expiration date, and signature. The right-hand side reads "This Card Certifies That The Below Individual Has Successfully Completed The Objectives & Examination in Accordance with the Curriculum of the NFF Certification & Training Program." Why is it capitalized like that?? As I was typing I was like "alright, capitalizing every word is a choice but I support it" but then it drops out of that like halfway through. National Forklift Foundation (dot com) should be ashamed. A screenshot from Mass Effect 3, showing your War Preparedness Score. It lists certain assets, and, of course, assigns them a numerical value to indicate their usefulness to your purposes. A mechanic that aligns strongly with Mass Effect's message of how much one person can change the galaxy if they put their mind to it. Anyway, the Leviathan Enthrallment Team is worth 400 points. General Oleg Petrovsky is only worth 30 points. Though the entire Omega Raiding Fleet is worth 75, so maybe Oleg is doing okay.

An image I seem to have stolen from the podcast The Indiana Jones minute. I don't want to steal, it's just that the only other options I saw were gifs. Anyway. It's a screenshot from The Last Crusade, showing Indy on the blimp, having just thrown a man out the window. What is it about Roombas that activate my maternal instincts so? A friend sent me a video lately of a Roomba loose on the L and I instantly knew I would protect it with my life. A photo of the Washington Monument that....seems to have been cropped poorly against my will. You know what? I'm just gonna roll with it. Between the two stolen pics and this, I'm batting 1000 with this post. Anyway. It's the Washington Monument, it's a fuckhuge tower made of granite that's just kind of a giant obelisk. You can just barely see the circle of American flags surrounding it on the ground. Because of the cropping.

TAAP Oathbringer Episode 4 spoilers without context:

The headline reads: "Review: In 'Lord of the Rings' at Chicago Shakes, the spectacle competes with the heart of the hobbits" The picture shows two actors as Frodo and Gollum - Frodo is holding the one ring in his hand, looking displeased, wearing Birkenstocks. Gollum is half crouched on the ground, one arm out, truly giving it his all. I cannot remember a single note of music from this musical but I sure do remember the puppets! Talking about this past moment of US military aggression seemed a lot funnier before we began to maybe start World War III. The Cool S. No, literally, that's the name of its Wikipedia article. It's that one S that we drew on all our notebooks, the big block text with the pointy ends. How did this symbol begin? How did we all know it? What did it mean? I feel like there should be a Welcome to Night Vale episode about this S. A photo of Jonathan Frakes, star of Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction. And oh yeah Star Trek or whatever. But this screenshot is in fact from Fact or Fiction - it's a closeup of Frakes looking particularly smug at having fooled his audience. Indeed, he's saying "Not this time," assuming that we've fallen for one of his classic lies once again.

TAAP Oathbringer Episode 0 spoilers without context:
A photo of two chimpanzees in what appears to be a zoo enclosure. One of them is obscured by the other, but the one front and center is the star of the show. He has the widest eyes and is staring completely open-mouthed upward. He is absolutely delighted to be seeing whatever he's seeing. I think the photo caption said it was the sky for the first time, which is phenomenal. I have no idea why I listed "chimps seeing things" in my notes for this episode and I can't wait to find out alongside all of you. A photo of the Nether, in the game Minecraft. It's hell. It's simply hell. It looks like a big cavern made of gray and red rocks, with motes of red floating through the air and a lake of lava in the ground. Calling this a "photo" of the Nether feels weird, it's not like you can physically go there and pull out your camera to take a pic. The movie poster for a truly phenomenal film - The Iron Giant. It shows the titular Iron Giant, a big ole metal robot man with blue eyes and a smile, holding the young human protagonist whose name I absolutely know. WAIT HANG ON I don't think this is the movie poster, it might be the cover of the book?? I didn't even know it was a book but I just googled Ted Hughes (whose name is listed in teal at the top of the image) and it turns out he wrote the original book. Which makes sense as to why there are positive blurbs from both Philip Pullman and Madeleine L'Engle floating around. Was this the original cover and then the film pulled the Giant design from it? Or did they redesign the cover after the movie??? Someone tell me now I need to know A magazine cover comprised of a lot of magazine covers. It's a magazine about the Time Person of the Year, titled "TIME Person of the Year: 95 Years of the World's Most Influential People." You can see that some of the featured previous winners are Obama (totally), Mark Zuckerburg (sure), The Whistleblowers (hang on), The Endangered Earth (what), The Spirit of Ukraine (now we're just getting silly with it) and....computers?

TAAP Edgedancer Episode 3 spoilers without context:

TAAP Edgedancer Episode 2 spoilers without context:
A screenshot of the loading screen for an Assassin's Creed game - it looks like ACII on first blush to me. It's an off-white background with some computer-y geometry in the background. And with that disclaimer, we can clearly see that Assassin's Creed has never been problematic. Even a little bit. For sure. A promotional image for the British quiz show Mastermind. It shows a single uncomfortable looking chair sitting on a round dais with a giant M plastered in the center of it. Harsh industrial lighting shines down form above, and otherwise it kind of looks like a void. Honestly, this looks like the music video for The Arbiter. You know, the single released from the 1984 musical Chess about the Chess Referee that they made a music video for sung by Bjorn Skifs from Blue Swede. Sometimes these alt texts are just for me. A...cover? Promotional image? Some sort of graphic design for a song. There's a yellow background with a kind of wibbly grid behind a silhouetted man and woman dancing together. The band name at the top reads MEN WITHOUT HATS, and the song is of course called THE SAFETY DANCE. There's so much random stuff happening in this image, I'm fascinated. TAAP Hope of Elantris and Grab Bag episode spoilers without context:

The ones on the far left and far right are staring into the middle distance, as if they're looking toward the horizon to begin a quest. The one on the middle right on the other hand is staring directly into the camera with an expression like he knows the exact date and time of my death. A screenshot from the hit game Sonic 2. Sonic and Tails are running across a green field - I think they're in Green Hill Zone. A robot monkey is climbing a tree overhead and is almost certainly about to get wrecked by Sonic. And if not by Sonic, trusty sidekick Tails will probably try to get it, miss, and then get dragged away by the sidescrolling that follows Sonic. At least in my experience. TAAP Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell spoilers without context:
A picture of heavy metal band Mötley Crüe. Though honestly I'm not sure the guy on the right is wearing full pants? It kinda looks like he's wearing a skirt that Larian would make that only just barely covers your front and back. I didn't know this book existed, I was a Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus girlie. A screenshot from a news package that probably ran on NBC 5 local news.
