And of course once the news is printed on paper, they cannot stop its spread. One person gets a copy, countless others can read and pass it along.
I'm guilty of getting my news online, but I also keep subscribing to print newspapers and magazines, buying books on paper. We need those presses!

If, for instance, someone with dictatorial opinions were leading a nation in bad faith, and if that person had a majorly funded tech oligarch in hand? What you're doing online isn't going to be safe.

Why is it so important we save print?
What we publish online, if we are tech savvy and know how to go through proxy servers, can have the source obfuscated. But most end users reading it don't know how to hide our ip, so it's possible for someone to know what we're looking at.

Yesterday I learned that the Newark Star-Ledger will no longer be publishing a print newspaper, making them (I think) the first to become digital only. Print is a dying industry, but I beg of you - don't let it die. It is imperative for our safety!

I'd be out there building libraries with diverse collections in every place I could.
Imagine being a billionaire and not finding joy every day with just giving your money away. Like, every day you could walk up to a small nonprofit, hand them $100k, and walk away knowing you'd just hugely changed people's lives. How broken would you have to be for that NOT to be what you chose?
