Musée Rodin is incredible. If you’re interested in Paris’ ancient history the Arènes de Lutèce and other Roman ruins are still there

Been a while but the 6e arrondissement, particularly Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Jardin du Luxembourg, is quite iconic and lively. The 12e is pleasant, maybe less known to most tourists, but it has the Bois de Vincennes which is gorgeous and historic. Montmarte and Champs-Élysées are classics

...and tap into the dissatisfaction with political status quo in France. Le Pen was frankly a tired character with an infamous family legacy as a burden. Bardella is suave and well-spoken. Even if the Trump crisis gives the Machinists a boost, Bardella could very well punish them in 2027

Québec is just a bizarre place overall there’s no point in questioning it. I was visiting the touristy part of Montréal once and saw a shop selling t-shirts emblazoned with « Je m’en câlisse », had to do a double take there

It’s going to be lovely when Reform wins the next election and Farage becomes PM. Only Labour to blame if that happens

Trump may have delusions about occupying Canada but it's simply not feasible for the US to undertake in any sense. The US is too divided to go to war so close to home, and the country would collapse in an instant if it went to war against Canada. We should focus on more material matters

There's absolutely no amount that Canada could spend on defence that would transform the CAF into a force capable of effectively fighting the American military. Europe would not intervene to save us from the Americans either. Only a prolonged insurgency would meaningfully resist and deter the US

The entire casus belli for the war in Gaul was crafted by manufacturing outrage over a Helvetii migrant caravan that never even entered Roman territory, with Caesar fallaciously accusing Helvetii of posing a threat to Rome, so the historical parallels are truly uncanny.
