I've sent my first Rust RFC PR out for review! Take a look 🦀

Unnamed enum variants let you reserve discriminants as valid - very useful for FFI, serialization, and embedded.

If you put `_ = ..` on an enum to reserve the rest of the discriminants, you can `as` cast from the backing integer!

I wanted to figure out what changed between the DOJ's initial Epstein Files Vol. 8 document dump (which they quickly pulled) and the version they replaced it with.

I had a few hours of free time for PDF forensics hacking today. Here's my initial analysis of what changed: github.com/chad-loder/e...

The basic truth is the University of Oklahoma fired an instructor because she had the audacity to do her job while trans. Media like CNN are complicit in simultaneously pushing the anti-trans narrative and covering up the brutal outcomes of this societal purge.

the least shocking thing in the epstein files that wont get enough attention. police regularly arrest and charge victims to coerce them into participating, often jailing them in conditions that are worse.
jesus the Palm Beach Police really sought arrest warrants against underage Epstein victims for coming forward and cooperating, and (purported) admitting to crimes, and it caused the victims to become uncooperative with the federal investigation

1. New federal rules were released last week banning gender affirming care for youth at hospitals nationwide.

Those rules don't go into effect until public comment, months from now.

But it appears Sec. Kennedy is using an arcane process to try to implement them immediately.

Our latest story.
HHS Sec. Kennedy Attempts To Stop Trans Youth Care In Hospitals Nationwide—Before New Federal Rules Take Effect
Like many of the Trump regime’s attempted powergrabs, this kind of piecemeal and disheveled rulemaking is enforced at least in part by fear and sheer uncertainty.

Inspired by Prusa's new license "for the maker community", OCL, I'm introducing it's long-awaited sequel, SOCL!

Like Hollow Knight Silksong, it promises to be an improvement over its prequel in every way.

Looking forward to community adoption and feedback!

Trans youth healthcare is based in decades of research and supported by every major medical organization in the US. Under RFK Jr, a handpicked panel produced a dodgy report claiming otherwise.

It's a clear example of Kennedy's war on science. So why aren't news organizations treating it that way?

The story is insane. The acting head of cyber security, a Noem crony, repeatedly demanded to see highly classified information he didn’t need access to, and when staff set up a lie detector test as a condition to grant him access, he failed it. So DHS suspended the staffers.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

it is terrifying and awful that this passed the House with any Dem support at all (and once again, the continued leadership support for Cuellar is unconscionable)

call your senators and make absolutely sure this dies in the Senate, lives are on the line

trans people deserve so much better
Henry Cuellar, Don Davis, and Vicente Gonzalez joined Republicans in voting to criminalize trans health care.

The bill passed only 216 to 214.

4 Republicans voted no. If they did too, it would have failed.

IMO this is GitHub responding to competitive pressure from companies like Depot, which offer third-party runners that are generally better and cheaper than GitHub's. GitHub is lowering their own prices *and* adding a tax on using a competitor's product.
