I don't make any major editorial decisions at Assigned beyond what goes into the articles I write, but I can tell you that I wouldn't work for Evan or Assigned if I thought he or the outlet in general harbored some dislike for NB/intersex people. to say we have a "history" of that is really wild.

so, today people are mad at us for erasing intersex/gender fluid identities. a few months ago, they were mad at us for talking about how a false dichotomy around the identity of "transsexual" is needlessly exclusive of non-binary people. there truly is no winning.

What I concluded is that the language of gender identity, while useful for a time, and while accurate and resonant with many trans people's experience, can't be the heart of what a trans experience is.
It can't, bc I am obviously, uncomplicatedly trans... and I don't have an inner gender identity.

they were much better at it, and yes they were affordable because companies like rev paid you basically nothing to work like a machine. crappy industry totally propped up on criminally low wages. that said, those people probably wish AI hadn't stolen their jobs all the same.

this is outrageous! back in my day we used to hire disabled people at obscenely low rates because there are functionally no rules governing online employment, and force them to work faster than is even remotely reasonable to generate accurate transcripts! curse you, AI!!!

right after this she called me a man and said I threatened to kill her and should be investigated by the police (for saying I would never welcome her and "it's on sight"), which made the apology feel pretty hollow honestly.
