I ditched Adobe for Affinity quite a while ago, no regrets so far.

But their purchase by Canva (a very pro-AI company) raised some flags.

Best case scenario they´ll just roll out V3, paid upgrade as always, the end.

I seriously hope them not go to subscriptions and/or AI. 🥹

Sooo as I'm redoing my portfolio I'm perusing through my files to see what's worth rescuing and on about 95% of everything all I can think about is "omfg this sucks" 🫠

And whatever's half-presentable is fan art but... I'm not 16 anymore to put that on a ✨professional✨ portfolio. *sigh*

And last I checked, no programmer I've ever known wanted to spend more time than needed writing code. Thus, an arguably legit use of AI.

But delegating the ludic human trait of creativity, of serendipity, of channeling emotions to a non-human algorithm, will never make any sense.

And same as Matt says further down, I've also found legit, non-artsy uses for AI (hold your pitchforks, gents). I'm currently rebuilding my website which I've coded myself and what used to take me a week of changes has been whittled down to a couple of days. Things like that.
