Nope. Not what I said. We meet students where they are, even if that means reading the whole book in class. I refuse to judge parents/caregivers, but I am very interested in how education could change with serious government investment and economic opportunities for all.

Please don’t immediately jump on educators while every single media company and all social media apps are actively warping children’s brains, including their attention spans, with content that prioritizes constantly moving on to the next new thing.

High school teacher here. If we assign chapters to read for homework, only a handful do it. I can’t speak to why they’re not reading at home, and I don’t want to judge families and households that may be experiencing myriad hardships. So we read the books in class, and that just takes time.
