So つ can sometimes be an almost..."catching the words in my throat" sound or an "almost (sub?)vocalized sound." In this case, I just felt having that sound actually be perceived heightened the emotion and cuteness of the scene.

Translating a germinated つ by itself, or with an ellipses (・・・っ) is always interesting, since it's both not a sound AND a sound. Sometimes, the context is better served by just a "!", but any "germinated" sound is something that is somewhat happening in the throat.

It helps that Matsuki's line reinforces her intention, even though HER line is a li'l vague. Generally, Tsumiki is really deceptive as a series in terms of how much bubble space there is (or isn't) so I often err on the side of brevity--and even then lines are too long sometimes.

...then from there, I felt that "someone who just SAYS it" was a really elegant way of communicating "someone who expresses their love freely" without over-explaining the act, which I think would not communicate the tone that Roman says the line.

3; the line needs to flow into it being something that Matsuki wants to show he emulates as a potential romantic partner (even if not HER). I felt the literal translation was a little clunky and didn't express 2 very well, so I fleshed out the approval implication first...

Since Mizuho-sensei often portrays Shade as not knowing bigger adult words/concepts (due to becoming a fiend as a child, I assume), I didn't think Shade would know the grammatically correct, irregular conjugation of "Rend" -> "Rent." So the incorrect grammar is on purpose here!

As I've mentioned before, translators often have to read between the lines. "Like this now" is a bit too vague, so I extrapolated that she meant "Like this now, I won't be able to break free."

ドン引き (to be put off by, to cringe at) is one of those words that can be translated a million ways. Since the ballooned line already uses "disgust," I had to go for the "judging" nuance of the word so the meanings wouldn't double up.

Then we have this "はぅあ (haua) Which I tried to approximate in EN with a "Hawuh?!" Most of the time, if we can approximate the Japanese sounds we will try to, since they are quite fun and lovely!

Sometimes we have to adjust non-word sounds in EN. Ibara's laugh is "くはは" (ku ha ha), but we'd have to write it as "Koo ha ha" and that might come off strangely, so we did have to go with a "Neh ha ha" to ensure her laughter was at least still evil and recognizable as hers.

Since the perceived mistake likely wouldn't be caused by stupidity, I felt calling him stupid would seem odd in English. So, I went with "Ugh, Shaaaade" since it's a great way to succinctly express feelings of "I can't believe you've done this to me."

Why is Shade fine with either option? Because he doesn't care, but is being cheeky about it. Well, "I'm not judging" expresses a fineness with either choice while also being cheeky. BAM, there we go!

Here, the preceding line already lays out the options, so just focusing on the "I'm fine with this" part of the literal translation allows us to use the balloon space fully to preserve Shade's snarky tone . The logic behind "I'm not judging" is simple.
