It used a magazine of five M50 hand grenades with percussion fuses that were armed, hand-loaded into the launcher, and fired with heavy recoil at unsuspecting targets using a weird loading mechanism.

A definite highlight was an exhibit where secondary cosmic rays streaming in from space were ionizing a container full of supersaturated alcohol vapour. When the ionized vapour condenses into newly charged particles, it forms “clouds” that reveal the incoming track of those cosmic rays.

Had a good time today visiting the #GriffithObservatory with a friend. Haven’t visited in over 17 years. I have a much better grasp of things now than I did as a kid.

Montreal used a very similar set of boxcabs (CN Class Z-1-a and later Z-4-a) to haul CN Heavyweight coaches between Gare Céntrale and Deux-Montagnes. These locomotives were in service from 1918 to 1995, at which point they were replaced by the MR-90 EMU.

It’s a double-action, 5-round, bullpup space revolver chambered in your choice of 5.45x39mm or .410 bore. It also comes with a detachable stock and a bayonet that folds back over the barrel.

It’s a very busy day in the skies today. Planes and helis zipping about doing plane things. A T-38 flying in from NorCal on a very long distance excursion. An L-39 flying around on a training flight. An X-59 doing ground taxi tests before its maiden flight. A pair of C-130s mating over the channel.
