No I getcha! It seems like confidence is a pivotal factor since you can better know which lines to use to make something. Lately I've been doing studies and doodling in pen only, so maybe I should spend time on pencil as well.

Drawing in gel pen is going to be a key part of unlocking whatever my style will be. The more I scribble and doodle, the more confident what marks I want to make for the subject I am. Pencil is a wonderful tool, but ink just forces me to fall forward faster.
