I don’t mean inconsistent with the timeline or anything, 4 is very clearly in an alternate timeline from the first 3

I just cannot agree with the previous games being so consistent. Yes 4 is less consistent but that doesn’t make the first 3 particularly consistent themselves

Overall I think it’s never had a true definitive direction of when the series is meant to be because there’s too much contradictory stuff

It is still a theory at most
Also iirc the continents in 3 are technically a retcon from 2 where it much more closely resembled modern day earth
Also theres things like those cardboard boxes since the first game which should be completely rotted if it’s been any real significant amount of time
