It's kinda recognizing that while we live in an imperfect world with imperfect people in a lot of ways, you can find the people who never want to hurt you.

If you can feel that they have sincere respect and trust for ya and if you have sincere trust and respect for them then you can trust that :3

Honestly I think the key to happiness in a lot of cases is finding people you can sincerely trust.
If you're around them, it won't feel like you're on edge constantly nor would it feel like a struggle to exist.

If you're able to just casually exist without worry then life doesn't feel so terrible.

I think an important part of it is what you see yourself as and what you see other as. If you're able to see your friends as being a similar level of weird as you then it's easier to view them in that way as well.

Also admitting that you love the weird side of them and the weird side of yourself

It could be a headspace thing. When you're online, it can be easier to shift into a headspace of enjoying the weird and wild but irl is more sobering.

If you're able to get into the headspace to enjoy the weird stuff irl, maybe it becomes easier with friends. You have to trust it's okay.

Literally the only thing that matters is whether it feels special to you or not. Trying to chase what you think is "normal" or what you're "supposed" to do just means you're trying to chase somebody else's special feelings and not your own.

What feels special to you is the key to happiness.
