Prequels are, by nature, doomed narratives where you already know the ending (a Greek tragedy, fittingly), and the weight of that — of everything I already know from HC — is already being taken great advantage of in showing these early moments through a second person Zeus POV

I've commented on the punctual gymnastics before but I need to say it again: chat it's peak. I used to be scared of getting jiggy with it like that. Conservative with my em dashes and semicolons. No longer. I have seen ichor spilled and now I know the gods can bleed.

It's also all very efficient, but not clinical. No scene feels unimportant. Even the bits in interludes which aren't necessarily plot-driving, like Aphrodite's undercover dating service, feel like they give less central characters deserved attention that adds weight to the meat of it all
