Counterpoint: patients are often morons and should not be trusted to weigh all the evidence (that they often don't have) in order to decide if they'd like them or their children to spread life threatening illnesses. That's why we have doctors! So they can advise us on how to keep healthy!

No matter how hard I try, I can't figure out how this is supposed to work. The AI will make someone's laugh a different register? It will send a beam of light over someone's head? Do they think the AI is god, or the set designer in a play?

I sew, so I made dozens of masks out of pretty or nerdy fabric. I had Power Ranger masks, my partner and some friends got Star Wars masks. It was all terrible but you could make it a little fun if you tried (and weren't too busy pretending to gasp for air when you wore one).

Humans are making choices to use this, to implant it in everything, to make it nearly impossible to escape, and trying to play it off as a consequence of natural processes. It can, in fact, be stopped. People just have to decide to do so. And that includes the CEOs and overlords creating/buying it.
