She/her, ADHD, nerd, Open Mind, Open Hearts, Open Doors, unpaid shill for the imperfect.

You write something insightful, and now I’m reading old nested threads like a Wikipedia binge and ❤️ing everywhere. Promise I’m not a stalker, just appreciative.
And yet you refuse to block.

/I’m built different!/ And maybe you even are in the most obvious ways, but you’re not emotionally unaffected, so you’re not immune to gradual damage from bad faith pile ons.

You don’t have to give up debates to screen for people who are even worth having them with.

Hope of building anything , transforming anything, for the benefit of humanity in general has been equated with scams and suckers in the GOP for ages, but you had a once influential strain that was aligned with them due to holdover Cold War mentalities that believed they were advancing global good.

I think it’s related to a larger concept, which is the current mode of the party is in a sense a reaction to the deeply humiliating collapse of the neocon movement and the idealistic visions it had. I think it buried the last earnestness towards any overarching project with it.

And it’s not all derogatory, for example if you’re someone who knows they just don’t have the time and energy now to put in that the question deserves, why should we overrule that? Sometimes staying out is the most civic choice, because the alternative is just whatever name sounds the most familiar.

Driving the most apathetic, cynical, and self-centered people to the polls is literally how we got in this mess. With few exceptions, if you’re someone who doesn’t want to vote, why do we want you voting?

Pretty sure it means “London’s had a Muslim mayor for like ten years so all the people that told us sharia law will descend upon it all must be right by now. We haven’t checked. But they painted a really vivid picture, so we’re sure we have the idea.”

Lazy, spoiled, weird, thoughtless… the sitting still trope is such a minimization of what kids go through, what we tell ourselves, when we can’t figure out why can’t live up to everyone else.

And yup my mom kept being told she definitely wasn’t spanking me enough. Bless her forever for not caving.

I am genuinely convinced that one of the reasons it used to be thought that most people grew out of ADHD as adults was how common smoking was.

The article notes that kids who start medicine early are more likely to need more medication 4 years later in the most basic correlation/causation fail you can imagine on the subject. Maybe the reason WHY some kids needed the extra help had something to do with it?

I’m told by the highest authorities that the solution is to take these kids from their families and “re-parent” them working on “wellness farms.” Particularly Black kids, says our HHS head, so they don’t cause violence. In these centers all cellphones will be confiscated, but I’m sure it’s fine…

She was his mentee. Why do you think it is ever appropriate to abuse a position like that, married or not?

I lost quite a bit of weight without dieting by turning my excess calories to liquid and feeding them to my babies, so maybe we could do something with that to sell it to guys (but anecdotally I seem to be the exception via overproducing milk from pumping.)

I mean, no? When you try to ask it about a particular area of expertise, like law, the results are disastrous. At best, it mashes up a hodgepodge of obsolete and out-of-state answers from law firm website blogs and at worst it will straight up make things up, fake citations and all.
