I deliberately wrote my first reply before reading your article, which placed this season in its historical perspective - and thanks for that! But there is more to be written on McLaren’s blunders and mishandling as the season drew to its climax.

It worked well for the Constructors Championship, supposedly their highest priority. But without that focus they badly fumbled the final quarter of the season, eventually highlighting that neither of their drivers were close to being the most deserving.

It’s years since I ventolined thankfully. Mine was entirely caused by summer hayfever, particularly near fatally as thunderstorms approached (long before that trigger became well known). My allergy is held comfortably in check by Telfast & similar these days. But I’ve never forgotten the fright. xxx

I never dared go to a game between the two. Seeing one mob at a time was quite enough for me. And this from someone who didn’t miss Rangers games when they visited Dundee.
We north londoners were quite staid by comparison.
