Ukraine has become a battlefield laboratory — one that costs us many lives to sustain. As we call on Australia to continue supporting for Ukraine, we also offer collaboration on the joint development of next-generation autonomous systems and countermeasures to meet the demands of modern warfare.

Mykola played for “Legion XIII” and the Ukrainian national rugby league team. When Russia launched its full-scale invasion, he joined the Defence Forces and served courageously on the frontlines. He will forever be 35.

As I congratulate the Brisbane Broncos on their stunning victory in the NRL Grand Final, I also mourn the loss of Ukrainian rugby league player Mykola Hetmanov. He was killed by Russian forces near Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region.

In a brazen overnight assault, Russia fired 500 drones and 50 missiles at targets across Ukraine — including power-generation facilities, an industrial park, and residential areas — causing numerous casualties. The international community must act to stop Russia.

A drone strike on a passenger train in Shostka, Sumy region is an appalling war crime: 30+ injured. The world must raise the cost of RU’s aggression: long-range capabilities for Ukraine, transfer of immobilised Russian state assets, and severe sanctions on Russia’s banks, oil and nuclear sectors.
