Ukraine has become a battlefield laboratory — one that costs us many lives to sustain. As we call on Australia to continue supporting for Ukraine, we also offer collaboration on the joint development of next-generation autonomous systems and countermeasures to meet the demands of modern warfare.

Extremely grateful to H.E. Chris Dawson, Governor of Western Australia, and his spouse, Darrilyn Dawson, for hosting us during our visit to Perth. There are significant opportunities for cooperation between Western Australia and Ukraine, particularly in the defence and mining sectors.

Mykola played for “Legion XIII” and the Ukrainian national rugby league team. When Russia launched its full-scale invasion, he joined the Defence Forces and served courageously on the frontlines. He will forever be 35.

As I congratulate the Brisbane Broncos on their stunning victory in the NRL Grand Final, I also mourn the loss of Ukrainian rugby league player Mykola Hetmanov. He was killed by Russian forces near Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region.

In a brazen overnight assault, Russia fired 500 drones and 50 missiles at targets across Ukraine — including power-generation facilities, an industrial park, and residential areas — causing numerous casualties. The international community must act to stop Russia.

How is Russia weaponising words? 🪖🗞️
Disinformation has become one of the most powerful tools in Russia’s hybrid warfare — exploiting the vulnerabilities of democratic societies to weaken them from within.

A drone strike on a passenger train in Shostka, Sumy region is an appalling war crime: 30+ injured. The world must raise the cost of RU’s aggression: long-range capabilities for Ukraine, transfer of immobilised Russian state assets, and severe sanctions on Russia’s banks, oil and nuclear sectors.

I greatly enjoyed our panel discussion on modern warfare and the lessons learned, held last night at the annual dinner of the United Services Institute of the ACT at the Australian War Memorial.

I was pleased to meet with Tania Constable, CEO of the Minerals Council of AU & Dr. Ross Lambie, Chief Economist, to discuss opportunities for UA–AU cooperation in the mining sector and how, together with partners in the U.S. and EU, we can build more stable and resilient global supply chains.

As His Excellency Mr Vasyl Myroshnychenko (@ambvasyl.bsky.social) recently highlighted, Kyiv could partner with Australia; these are the drones that Ukraine could assist Australia in training and acquisition.

On October 1st, Ukraine honours a day of profound meaning and unity. We celebrate the Feast of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin (Pokrova), seeking strength and protection through faith.

The innovation in the last three years in Ukraine is just staggering, and it’s important for Australia to develop its own sovereign defence industry capabilities, especially uncrewed systems.

Always a pleasure to run into a friend of Ukraine at the airport. Senator Jacqui Lambie has been a steadfast supporter of Ukraine since the very beginning of Russia’s aggression. Thank you, Senator! 🇺🇦🇦🇺💪
