As some of you were aware, the name of the IHR Tudor and Stuart seminar was recently attached to a day conference that included David Starkey in its line-up. That will no longer be the case going forward.

Won’t eat any of the plethora of food items I packed for him, or the flapjack I panic bought for him at the cafe, but will eat the (entire) cheese & pickle panini I bought for myself for lunch! Clearly a man of good taste as he loves Branston pickle like me and his Auntie @lauradearden.bsky.social 😂

I've had a super productive week and tomorrow I'm off to a farm with my wife, friend, and our three kids (including my animal-obsessed toddler). Bliss!

I've been so productive this morning (she says... on social media) and I was like hmm why is that. Then I remembered I woke up at 5:30, dropped my child off a bit early at nursery, and have had three coffees (cough, iced lattes).

That's a very good thought! I hadn't actually considered that but I guess I have nothing to lose from sending the email! Thanks for your suggestion, I appreciate it!

Thanks Jo, I appreciate your response, it's interesting to hear other people's perspectives. I am probably taking in too much I think - instagram is not my friend in that sense - but I struggle with feeling guilty that I'm not "doing" anything.

(1) consistent growth of mediocrity;
(2) conscious distinction, self-shaping.'

Most days I am confronted with images from Palestine which leave me unable to breathe & I have nightmares most nights. How are others coping? I.e. finding the balance between not looking away & doing what you can, whilst remembering you have children to care for, a job to do, and a life to live?

Cannot understand why she picked Javen over Demola!

This type of requirement just makes it harder for those of us with children to compete in an already (seemingly) impossible ECR landscape, and surely disproportionately affects women with children in particular. (4/4).

Could not funding of the same value be provided for the fellow to find their own accomm? Or something like that? I just don't understand what benefit the institution gains from you being in a specific building. (3/x)
