Batch your cocktails (unless you hired a bartender) and have fun!

That is incorrect. Capitalism rests on exploitation of resources. Removing that possibility by ensuring all people have equitable access to resources would change society’s notions of race and class.

And THAT is just….. omg I need a drink.

As a socialist, I call bullshit. The fact that our capitalist society has no social safety net does not protect capitalism-created and fueled racist behavior

There are some people who dont live their lives just being shitty capitalists. i personally vote for a system in which hc isnt controlled by employers bc, to me, it makes the decision to fire someone awful bc then they will lose hc.

I personally cannot imagine why a co wouldnt negotiate higher salary for no healthcare cost other than they are afraid they will turn around in a month and say nvm, now I need it. But insurance company requires proof of why if adding outside of open season. people suck, basically.
December 12, 2025 at 2:27 AM
No, I am not bullshitting. This is absolutely my experience. But I do think that most companies are very ungenerous about hc. It is a business decision. My example is for a 26 person co so ymmv.
December 12, 2025 at 2:25 AM
of course there are co-pays and deductible requirements for Eee, but when Employer values employees and arent trying to keep all the profits themselves (and its a successful co, of course) it can be done.
December 12, 2025 at 2:21 AM
It depends - employer sets a policy when it contracts with insurance company. Employer factors hc cost in when determining how much to pay someone in salary. If new Eee doesnt need hc, we can pay higher salary, knowing that they may need it down the line and then we will have to pay & thats ok.

There is, for instance, BC/BS Direct Access, Gold plan. For a 60ish year old person in NJ, it costs the employer about 1200/month. Then, up to the employer what percentage to charge employee.
December 12, 2025 at 2:09 AM
I did not know that.

Well, there is certainly a shortage of hotels in Lambertville but you wouldn’t think that is the case in Princeton. Regardless, taxing them exorbitantly is probably a good idea short of banning them from residential neighborhoods completely.
December 11, 2025 at 2:59 PM
That is awesome. I hope the program includes education for first time home buyers.
December 11, 2025 at 2:50 PM
What I understand from people in Lambertville where this is a big problem is that corporations are buying properties at high prices to use as AirBnBs. This jacks up the market and puts a series of strangers in an otherwise closely knot neighborhood. Capitalism + gentrification = ruined neighborhood
