Welcome to another edition of the NHL Morning Recap.  All the Latest NHL Daily Recaps Today, we will be looking at the scores of the 10 NHL games that were played on Jan. 27, 2026. Which saw the Toronto Maple Leafs host the Buffalo Sabres. As well as the Washington Capitals and Seattle Kraken battle it out in the late game.

On top of the already-tight standings, Tuesday evening’s contest for the New Jersey Devils held some extra importance; John MacLean, who played 14 seasons for the Devils and won a Stanley Cup with them, got inducted into the franchise’s Ring of Honor. The legendary Bill Belichick will not be a first-ballot Hall of Famer after he fell short of the 40 out of 50 votes needed for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This was Belichick's first year of eligibility.  Belichick will make next year's class (2027), but there is a special pantheon reserved for "first-ballot" inductees, in any sport, and Belichick's legacy will be forever dulled, albeit only so slightly, by not receiving that honor. 

All we have left is one more game on the docket before the 2025 season comes to a close. Over the next couple of weeks, we'll be dissecting every angle of Super Bowl LX between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. Before we cannonball into that matchup, however, let's take a look back at the year that was, shall we? 

Just over one week after firing Sean McDermott, the Buffalo Bills have their man. The Bills are promoting offensive coordinator Joe Brady to coach on a five-year deal, the team announced on Tuesday. While they considered several outside candidates, Bills general manager Brandon Beane tabbed Brady, who has never been a head coach at any level. He does, however, bring considerable experience having spent the previous four years on McDermott's coaching staff.

Over the last decade, tens of millions of dollars have flowed through Canton, Ohio, to enhance the Pro Football Hall of Fame to a year-round football mecca. The stadium has expanded, the Hall of Fame Village has added a small theme park and restaurants, and you can even rent out space for your company outings. The NFL world was shocked when news broke on Tuesday that former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick did not receive the required vote to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on his first attempt. CBS Sports Jonathan Jones confirmed the news that the current North Carolina football coach did not receive the 40 out of 50 votes needed to reach the Hall of Fame in his first year on the ballot.

Getty Images Less than 48 hours after their AFC Championship Game loss to the New England Patriots, the Denver Broncos have fired offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, according to NFL Media.  With backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham filling in for injured starter Bo Nix, the Broncos scored just seven points during Sunday's loss to the Patriots. The Broncos led 7-0 early and had a chance to add to their lead in the second quarter, but they came up empty after Stidham was unable to connect with running back RJ Harvey on fourth-and-1 from the Patriots' 14-yard line.

The shorthanded Milwaukee Bucks take on the Philadelphia 76ers in a key NBA Eastern Conference matchup on Tuesday. Milwaukee, who will be without Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf), are coming off a 102-100 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Friday, while Philadelphia dropped a 130-93 decision at Charlotte on Monday.
