The AMS is deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Dr. Gladys West, an extraordinary mathematician whose work on mathematically modeling the shape of the earth led to the development of satellite geodesy models. This work was instrumental in designing modern GPS.

In “The Landau Equation and Fisher Information,” Nestor Guillen and Luis Silvestre describe their work GS25 showing that for solutions of the space-homogeneous Landau equation the Fisher information is monotone, a fact that enabled them to show smooth solutions exist for all time. Link in comments.
