I love how observing ants set off this entire philosophical conundrum. It's beautiful. I have similar thoughts when looking at trees, clouds or the sky.

I don't think that's necessarily inherently true. For example a camping hotdog. You leave a hotdog on the outside of your camp to attract the ants away from you (bleach is somewhat unnecessary in a camping scenario) and that keeps the ants fed and better off for you having been there.

I frequently have these thoughts as well when watching the ants work.

I feel like a swarm of ants in a death spiral is a good metaphor for the republican party.
