To be clear, I agree wages should also rise with increased productivity. Like they way wage growth matched GDP growth until sometime in the 1970s.

I agree that's part of it, but wages should be increasing just because of inflation, without considering improved productivity. The price of apples doesn't go up because apples are better this year than last. Why should labor be the only cost that's exempt from rising with inflation?

But what makes something an investment is that it goes up faster than inflation. Which is what housing has been doing, which is the problem. That can't keep happening forever or only the obscenely wealthy will be able to live indoors.

I had a co-worker once earnestly explain to me that if doctor visits were free, poor people would go to the doctor's office recreationally, like literally just for fun, and it would clog up the system.

On one hand, we were told that Nazis were uniquely bad. Nothing had ever been that bad, and nothing could ever be that bad again. Anyone comparing something to Nazi Germany was admonished.

This produced a sort of "Nazis aren't real life" sentiment which left us vulnerable to . . . fascists.
