trans kids, immigrants, or unhoused people are dehumanized—then we’re not really against hate. We’re just against feeling it ourselves.

Empathy has to be consistent. Or it’s not empathy at all.

Roots are complicated. But care doesn’t have to be.

While I no longer align with many of the views that shaped that part of Texas—and truthfully, I often feel far from it now—this is still close to my roots. The land shaped me, even if I’ve grown in another direction.

I’ll always care about the people.

Now that same river is surging. Flooding towns.

Sweeping away homes, memories, and lives in minutes.

It’s heartbreaking to witness.

I grew up in China Spring, just outside Waco.

The rivers, the quiet roads, the sticky heat after a storm—I know these places. And right now, they’re underwater.

Towns like Comfort, Kerrville, and others along the Guadalupe have been devastated. Lives lost. Families missing. And the damage happened fast—rising water giving little time to react.

*sigh* I feel you. Really. Truly. I do.

When NASA guts comms—after cutting the Chief Scientist, DEIA, and Tech & Policy offices—it’s not just budgets. It’s values.

NASA should bring the public along, not leave them behind in the name of “efficiency.”

PAO: first to go, last to know.
Big. Huge. Mistake.

As a former NASA communicator, these are not “fluff” roles. They are mission-critical—often working long hours to break down complicated missions, ensure transparency during crisis, and celebrate achievements with every American, not just the ones in the control room.

They’ve kept the public engaged, inspired the next generation of explorers, and earned trust in government through clarity, transparency, and wonder.

Those communicators are now being downsized. Quietly. As if their role is expendable.
