At hospital births, doulas are the only professional in the room who knows the family and maintains a personal relationship with them. This is what makes doulas so special. Everyone else in the room is a near stranger who won’t be in their life longer than 12hours.

Research shows they are key to better health outcomes. Several efforts, including the city’s first doula support center, are tapping into that.
