The US citizens are not prosecuted this way outside the US, so it is not comparable.
Plus they had nowhere to escape or hide unless someone hid them in a basement (or somewhere else) at risk to their own life and the lives of their family members. Again - not comparable.

Ethically they were mostly Jewish (Semitic people), but if that was in Poland, they were also Polish citizens. It was happening to Jewish people wherever Hitler’s army went so probably the “Polish” part is the least relevant here
