Please do more PSAs re how tax brackets work & why making Billionaires pay a larger % of their upper bracket is NOT going to make the avg person pay more tax. I think too many of the lower 90% don't understand, and are afraid. The Bnair$ are conning the rest of us.

Re #3 (ban big $ from politics): we need to address where that $ is spent, too. High-paid advisors, pollsters, and advertisers have an interest in keeping that cash flow alive, or am I imagining things?

I love Northgate Falls. Sneaky little treasure so close to the road, but invisible from the road. I would never have known it was there if a friend hadn't taken me.

Congrats! And the Voynich is so weird.

I followed you immediately because of this post, and look forward to seeing where you go with this.

That is, the link to Sci Fi involves more than movies

IIRC, in Stranger In A Strange Land (1961), Heinlein has Jubal Harshaw demand that the Mars theme be used as Michael Smith's entrance music when meeting with Earth dignitaries (they would be entering using their national anthems, or some such). I went and looked it up to find out why RAH chose it.

Every new rule from this Admin shines a light on weaknesses in our current systems, adds items to the list of things we need to strengthen with legislation as soon as we are able to do so. I hope people are keeping lists. (I'd start with REAL voting rights and removing dark money from elections.)

It was great to hear a politician actually answer the questions they were being asked. And he brought so much optimism about people, both his incoming staff and the people of NYC, to the conversation. It felt absolutely joyful.

I would be more impressed if billionaires paid their all employees *real* living wages, and stopped using loopholes to avoid paying taxes, and THEN donated to charities on top of that.

This is one of those easy-to-drive-right-past if you don't know it's there places. A gobsmacking pocket paradise of water jumping over New England boulders.

You could * the word "programmers" and sub in the name of any job (skilled trade or profession). Experience avoids wasted time. ((You bet I'm salty about this new redefinition of "profession."))

Limited character count makes replies hard, sorry I was unclear. I agree with Ariella re needing to watch other sources than "the news" - I *also* think that being forced to learn MORE re how Congress works instead of "trusting the news" will make us more discerning of being fed BS

Here's a wild opinion: now that some of us are learning more about Senate procedure, that genie won't go back in the bottle and we will continue to hold our Senators (and Reps) accountable *in detail* instead of being brushed off. "Ma'am, I know that's not how it works - explain yourself."

Lots of cats prefer this style of collar over a cone. It could be that it interferes less with their whiskers, which are an important sensory system for them.

Whatever the rules are, give them teeth, give them defined repercussions. Removal from office. Discontinuation of pay and govt funded health care. Pick something, and make it stick.
