Now, granted… as a Lady of Gender, a great deal of my impressions of devils *are* influenced by RPG's and monsterfucker media. I might be open to voting for some of them…

I have no desire to be replaced with a shitty chatbot simulacrum nor do I wish do interact with fake versions of my deceased family/friends.

The only business an automated system has with my social media when I'm gone is either deleting it, posting some kind of "In Memoriam" message if it stays archived, or transferring control to living friends/relatives I've previously nominated to run the page.

Right, the worldbuilding and authorial fiat and everything are basically conspiring to go "Oh, Hermione is being a silly teenager for wanting massive social change." Like it's not even just presented neutrally as conflicting viewpoints between the characters.

The villains in Harry Potter are evil because they want to upset the current order and usher in an age of Bad wizard supremacy… but also the current order runs on wizard supremacy and a hierarchy of acceptable magical creatures, and wanting to change that is "misguided." Rotten books.

I mean, I think it's fine to have bad shit in a theoretically "escapist" setting, cause fantasy usually still has conflict. More the problem is that the slavery is just accepted and the one character who pushes back on it systemically is treated as crazy for doing so. Status quo is God.

As a Tyranid-player and Trigun-liker, the bottom right corner is gonna have to be my pick.

Seeing this just reminded me of the "Witching Waves" - a sort of proto-bumper car ride that would be made obsolete by electrically powered "dodge-ems" like this.

Just carts that coasted on big flexing sheets of metal. I've been low-key fascinated since finding out youtu.be/Obkm9phwpds

All I'm saying is if you want to activate my anime/Warhammer-jaded id for wunderwaffen bullshit, a big boat doesn't go far enough. Put some Zeppelin envelopes on it, make it an aerial battleship, now we're talking.

It was still ridiculous then, come on.

And, as you point out, the real life history that the Mad Men scene dramatizes is a case where people were *under*reacting to something harmful, because they were poorly informed, and kids died. This guy holding it up as some aspirational example of past stoicism is just baffling.

If you're making a case about "Then vs. Now," drawing from fictional depictions of the past is pretty silly. Like I generally wouldn't cite a scene in a western movie to make a point about "times back then," even if I thought it were fairly accurate. I'd try to find actual accounts of the event.

"In the Trojan War, Achilles was nigh impervious to all the weapons of the enemy - until the divine intervention and the treacherous use of poison by Prince Paris finally laid him low. This morning my weak toddler stubbed his toe and cried."

Sharp swerve aside… the first example is fiction??

Have all the leg lengthenings you want. I just think it's weird to never tell tell your wife about it.
December 19, 2025 at 1:14 AM
I mean, real talk, if leg enshortening were on the table and not 1) stupidly expensive 2) likely very painful and/or dangerous… I'd maaaaaybe consider dropping a couple inches.
