The @coe.int agreed to:
▪️Review lists of prohibited and controlled goods
▪️Develop guidance on best practice in law enforcement equipment trade fairs
▪️Develop the CoE Platform on Human Rights and Business

The review found progress in some CoE states but identified serious challenges such as the misuse of equipment during the policing of public assemblies and the emergence of new types of goods and equipment which require regulation.

The EU must stop disregarding human lives in the name of border control and ensure that any external cooperation guarantees effective human rights scrutiny and oversight on the use of EU funds.

The EU and Italy must suspend cooperation with Libya on migration control, including by ending Italy’s Memorandum of Understanding with Libya due for renewal on 2/11 and ensure that Libyan authorities effectively investigate the attacks & hold perpetrators accountable.

In the face of this new incident, and despite civil society calls for accountability & for an end to European complicity in horrific human rights violations at sea & in Libya, @ec.europa.eu has merely reaffirmed its policy of cooperation with the country.

The LCG has long been responsible for reckless and violent conduct causing refugees’ and migrants’ deaths and endangering NGO rescuers.

Last week, the EU-backed Libyan Coast Guard (LCG) fired live ammunition at a @sea-watch.org vessel during a rescue mission overnight between 25/26 September, just one month after the LCG fired on a rescue ship from @sosmediterranee.org.

The ban on #PécsPride breaches the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and undermines EU values.

The @ec.europa.eu has already found the new law’s legal basis unlawful in the ongoing CJEU case C-769/22.

It must act decisively now!

Since April 2025, Hungarian authorities may ban assemblies that “depict” or “promote” homosexuality or gender diversity.

In practice: any assembly promoting equality of #LGBTI people may be banned, with organizers criminalized and participants fined.

🚩The organizer now risks up to 1 year in prison.
🚩Participants face fines of up to €500 and identification via facial recognition.
