Except that the influence of any single vote on the distribution of power is so negligible as to be meaningless. Meanwhile your voting behavior is often interpreted as an expression of your values. Trump is a shitty human being independent of being Republican and that is a reason not to vote for him

How do you see that. I'm not the one claiming that the content of morality depends on people agreeing about it. Jonathan is. I'm claiming the opposite.

I'm not the one saying that something being morally wrong depends on everyone agreeing that it is. I agree that these things are wrong because of the effects they have on others. But that's a different claim than that they're wrong only because there is an effective interpersonal norm that they are.

Surely there are some principles that do. Slavery is wrong and was wrong even when everybody did it. Transphobic behaviour is wrong even if it is widespread.

Yes. Or else everything just becomes Americans talking to Americans or Brits talking to Brits, Europeans talking to Europeans... etc. No exchange of ideas. Limited opportunities for people elsewhere to contribute to the conversation.
