Headed into the parklands at 7.30 last night to check in on the flying foxes. Clever of them to colonise the trees between the Botanic Gardens + Zoo. Sprinklers have been set up to keep them cool.

I agree. In the 70’s & 80’s textiles had a revival as Craft was acknowledged as a viable creative industry. There are still so many makers selling their work today. Check out Annemieke Mein, a textile artist who has a long productive career making intricate artworks with stitches.

#Lego was the little something extra in Christmas Stockings this year as we always like an activity to work on together on Christmas Day, or the days that follow. Before Christmas these delightful kits were all out for under $20 ✔️🎄
Lego kit opened with instruction booklet open, pieces spread out on the tabletop and a pair of hands beginning to put pieces together. Tabletop with a Daffodils Lego Kit opened and the packages of pieces sitting next to the box. Finished Lego Kit of an aeroplane on a stand sitting on a table too. Almost finished (constructed) Toucan Lego Kit sitting on a table top. The Toucan is sitting on a stand with a wedge of watermelon on its beak and flower at its feet. Top beak part not correctly constructed (need to go back & work out the issue)

The #incognitartshow has now revealed all participants so I am sharing my contribution to this fabulous fundraiser for art studios that support artists with disabilities. A departure in style for me, due to the incognito aspect encouraging me to do something different. These are not ‘pretty’ images…

Fruit mixture with butter, sugar, port, brandy and muscat in the pot being gently heated. Bottles of brandy, port, muscat and sticky quince syrup….the liquid added to the fruit mixture for my fruit cake. Eggs, flour, grated nutmeg and cinnamon added to the fruit mixture, spooned into a deep square cake pan. The top of the cake studded with hazelnuts and pecans on a floral pattern. Photographed just before popping into the oven.

Often find myself feeling sentimental, so I have launched myself into rediscovering recipes my mum use to make and bake when I was growing up. Some of these came from #AustralianWomensWeekly cookbooks. Just popped this one in the oven.
