I'm muddling through life as best I can, looking for the bright spots in every day. Tired middle aged mom, gardener, fiber artist, reader, and Oxford comma enthusiast.

I've been posting one thing I am thankful for each day. Today I'm thankful (and a little surprised) that I'm not running out of things, despite the chaos. Finding the small bright spots has made a difference.
Today I am thankful that it stayed light out long enough for a quick walk before sunset.

I assembled a lighted plant stand this afternoon and still have no idea why there were so many extra screws. I am thankful that it seems to be plenty sturdy nonetheless.

Today I am thankful for my team at work. It's super rare in my industry (financial services) to find people who honestly care about doing the right things, but somehow I get to work with 5 of them.

Today I am thankful for artists of all kinds.

I've had quite enough of 2025. Today I am thankful that it's almost over. I hope that 2026 brings everyone lots of wonderful things.

My neighborhood has had zero Trump flags for a while. This morning Harley and I walked in a different neighborhood, and there was a house with a very tattered and faded Trump flag out front. Harley selected that yard to do his business. Today I am thankful for a discerning dog.

Today I am thankful for leftovers. I haven't done one goddamn thing all day, and don't intend to cook dinner. That's why I bought so much cheese.

It's started to snow, and apparently we're expecting a bit of accumulation. Today I am thankful that I have lots of books, wine, and cookies in the house so there's no reason to go anywhere.

Today I am thankful that I am very achy and tired. It's been a busy few days because there are a lot of special people to celebrate with. I'm also thankful that now I can sit down and put my feet up!

Today I am thankful for my family. We had a lovely pre-Christmas dinner with my parents and my niece. We did Blind Date With a Book. We each picked a gift wrapped book (from The Book Barn) and now we all have something to read when we need a break over the next few days.

Today I am thankful that I was able to convince my kid to run a few last minute errands for me. Wrapping is now done, all I have left is cleaning and cooking.

I'm one of those people who waits until Mary's water breaks to start Christmas shopping. Today I am thankful that I finished today! Now all I have to do is wrap, clean, and cook.

I like to read Heather Cox Richardson's posts while I have my morning coffee. Anyone reading this is probably familiar with her, but if not, she's on Bluesky so go find her. Today I am thankful that she is also sensing an extinction burst in Maga.

This past week feels like the final, chaotic days of a political era.

We had a pretty intense storm earlier today and the wind is still howling. Lots of trees and power lines are down. Today I am thankful that our power stayed on and none of us needs to leave the house tonight.

I used to be able to tell the difference between satire and actual news.

Today I am thankful that due to two separate holiday parties, I was unable to watch any television at all. Instead I had a lovely dinner, some very nice wine, and too many cookies.

Today is Harley's second Gotcha Day. I am thankful for animal rescue groups, and for all the hard work they do to match dogless homes with amazing dogs.

Today I am thankful that I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone tolerates the bullshit coming from DC. Normally I try to understand different viewpoints, but there's really nothing there to be understood. It's all just chaos and hatefulness.

I really enjoy seeing everyone's fiber arts online. There is a LOT of talent out there! Today I am thankful for fiber artists of all genders, races, and backgrounds. I love that we all have something in common.

I have been doing most of my holiday shopping in thrift stores and small shops. Today I found some milk glass that perfectly matches a partial set I inherited from my mother in law. I never would have found it in a major retailer. Today I am thankful for serendipity.

Today I am thankful that I got a lot done today. I'm still behind on holiday prep, but it feels like I might be able to pull it all together on time this year.

If you don't want to be investigated for crimes, it would seem simpler to not commit crimes, rather than try to pressure the court.

Today I am thankful that our dog is able to distinguish between outside trees and the Christmas tree.

Today I was able to figure out a shortcut in our software at work that means I can create a complex report in the same time it used to take for a basic one. I know it sounds kind of geeky, but I enjoy the part where I get to present to the clients, and better reports = more presentations!
