The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in January on President Donald Trump's request to be able to remove Lisa Cook from her position as a governor on the Federal Reserve Board. The court's order means that Cook will remain in office for now.

The Supreme Court is expected to announce opinions in argued cases at 10 am Eastern -- which could include acting on the dispute over the TikTok ban, which goes into effect on Jan. 19. We'll be live-blogging the release of opinions over at SCOTUSblog starting very soon.
Nothing on the TikTok case on today's order list, which deals with petitions for review that the justices considered at their conference last Friday. We don't know when the court will act on the TikTok case, although the court has indicated that it will issue opinions in argued cases on Wed am.

The court says that the evidentiary violations that Trump alleges can be addressed on appeal. And appearing for sentencing will impose a "relatively insubstantial" burden when the trial judge has indicated that he will not sentence Trump to jail time and Trump can appear virtually.
