Toying with retirement and teetering on the idea of returning to work as a software engineer / engineering manager. But SO enjoying learning to knit and looking forward to learning to use my wonderful Ashford Traditional wheel gifted by a family friend.
This has been corrected. "the missing sections have been restored to the Constitution Annotated site (constitution.congress.gov). The Library of Congress confirmed the issue was a “coding error”, not a constitutional change, and has since corrected it"

Hehehe. Yup - maybe tell it to consider "Measure twice, cut once."

Exactly. This is why I was REALLY livid when they started talking about replacing Biden. Using media pressure against their own party. It turned out Biden did the galant thing, and I jumped on board with the decision. But trotting out that dysfunction was inexcusable.

Exactly. So far, the best I can get it to cough up is about 70% useful. Sometimes it's faster to just do something yourself than it is to parse through someone else's sloppy work. So, yes - it does SOMETHING, but if it were human, it would be fired for being sloppy.

I think your AI bot trying to respond to my comment has run amok:

I got 3 responses from you all a little different. Did a bot reply to my comment?

I'm learning to knit. I've used AI to break down knit patterns so that I have row-by-row steps that I can check off, and it gives me the # of stitches I should have on the needle. Knitting patterns are just algorithms. I could have walked through it, but AI did it MUCH faster.

A nurse friend at the VA was talking about going through records submitted to be logged and vetted/validated, and how often the requests are duplicated or more in the queue. I pointed out AI could help them with the vetting so they don't waste time with duplicates. THAT's a win.

People have had access to advanced learning via MIT online courses, etc., for quite a while now. Doesn't mean they avail themselves of it. People who are incurious aren't playing with AI.

I'd love to see his assets frozen, contracts cut, and his citizenship revoked. Send him on his way back to S. Africa.

"Talking about it as if it will happen." Is key. It's been used so often - like "No, we have no plans to invade Iraq." It softens people up to the idea and wears down the shock factor. Like saying "don't think of a pink elephant." So, when we DID invade Iraq, backlash was less pronounced.

I'm thinking freeze all of Musk's assets until he's in Gitmo or back in S. Africa with his citizenship revoked. $400B would help the deficit nicely.

I never did have a twitter account. I came here from Facebook and it's just not the same. Frankly, I want to completely escape the doom scrolling and have a place where I'm not subjected to it, but I can connect with friends. That basically means, I'd like something without a feed.

Dems have always squabbled. Because there is so much diversity - which is good, but at some point, things break down into tribalism. We need to identify under one goal so that we CAN take care of the varied interests. We blew what may be the last chance for stability for many years.
February 24, 2025 at 5:31 AM
Bernie and his supporters trashed the Democratic party at the same time they were insisting the Dems embrace his candidacy. During a time when even centrist democrats were being called Marxist by the right, he was not going to appeal to the middle right enough to win.

That would not be a surprise.

Trump is not a conservative. He just used them to get to power and continue the "me me me" parade he SO needs to prop up in HUGE and fragile ego. And, they used HIM to push their agenda - mainly project 2025 - but it's transactional and nothing to do with ideals. Only power.
February 24, 2025 at 3:55 AM
So, trump used the republican party as his Trojan horse, and Musk used trump as his.

In our vernacular, we need to start speaking to the majority under the bell curve instead of the outliers at the ends. We need to appeal to the center. Moderates are more numerous but keep getting shouted down from the fringes.

I have also used it for resizing knitting patterns. It does about 80% of the drudge work but you still have to make sure it catches everything.

I think it's time to block another who just won't let something go.

Sigh. You are very myopic and clearly have a short attention span and shorter memory. I can see why the 300 character twitter-like format suits you. YOU ARE MAKING MY POINT!

Then I'm having trouble figuring out if you're agreeing or arguing. These shows that call themselves news need a warning label. Somewhere I have a screenshot feom the fcc website that definitely discusses categorization for what is news. I'll look through

Exactly. But SO many people think that the Fairness Doctrine being reinstates would make a difference (they are wrong) and they think that the FCC has some jurisdiction over Cable content (they are wrong).

The Awareness Doctrine
The state of news media leaves much to be desired. Traditional broadcast mediums are dominated by a select few voices that overwhelmingly push partisan viewpoints. The internet grows increasingly

And, people need to understand, private companies who own the content and delivery systems can skew and manipulate all they want. People need to understand this and stop feeding the monster(s).
