My posts can be split into 3 main groups: pictures of my dog (Percy), short daily summaries (food, sewing, tasks accomplished, birds sighted, etc.), and occasional re-posts of news items that I want to comment on.

Basic slice of life stuff.

Follow or not, I'm not bothered. Not here for the clout.
Matt is doing the hard things at the hospital to get better, so it's only fair that I do some hard things here at home.

I made egg salad this morning trying a new method for cooking/peeling the eggs (worked great).

I had to cook 5lbs of gr beef that I'd pulled from the freezer last week ... ⬇️

(1) With today's gloom being about the best the weather is gonna be for the week, but Matt still in the hospital, I had to pull on my big-girl panties and take on my errands.

I was gonna reward myself with a catfish sandwich after groceries, hospital, other stores.

This is your not-so-gentle reminder... if you are having unusual, especially intermittent, pain, GET IT CHECKED OUT!

Matt has been admitted again for yet another complication from his abdominal procedures. He'll be in the hospital for at least one or two more days (then re-evaluated).

If you guessed that my errands would not be run today, but would be replaced by hours spent at medical facilities on a Sunday, um… who hurt you?

But yeah, sitting in ED waiting for yet another specialist to weigh in on Matt’s CT-scan changes given current symptoms. 1.5 hrs at UTC, 4.5 here so far.

I have things to do today, so I made myself get dressed: a mid-calf length flowy skirt (black with tiny multi-colored flowered pattern), long sleeve t-shirt (gray), corduroy jacket (red), and cable-knit leggings (gray).

Looked in the mirror... I am definitely reading Gen-X / early 80's vibe.

I want (but do not need) a new sewing machine. The one that I have had my eye for months on is currently on sale by the manufacturer. All the local stores which sell that model have a similar price reduction.

I could literally have the machine in my hands tonight. Cue impulse control!

Squirrels live in the large maple tree a few houses down. Black walnuts litter the ground a short power-line crossing away in my backyard. Typically, I watch squirrels cross the line, come down the power pole, grab a walnut, and take it back to the nest.

Percy is having none of it today.

He’s home!!!

I love brains.

Percy says he will always protect me from the very dangerous squirrel invasion in our backyard.

What you also see in the photo: some very muddy paw prints on my pillow and sheet where he shifted things for the best view. Good thing I am changing my sheets today.

Matt is heading into his procedure now. Will add a comment when I've heard anything else.

I saw Matt at the hospital this afternoon. He looks better, but his pain is still pretty intense and food isn't always settling well.

Barring unforeseen stuff, his procedure will be tomorrow morning, followed by 24hrs observation. If it all looks good, he'll be sent home w/ follow-up in 2-3 weeks.

I need to figure out how to stop a very big dog from loudly snoring without waking him up.

We've learned the hard way that he shouldn't be startled when deep asleep. He spent first ten puppy months on the street and five years later he still reacts poorly.

He's a pain sometimes, but we love him.

This hospital episode is getting better and better. /s

Matt needs another procedure, but due to circumstances he needs to be transferred to L’ville for a specialist to do it with dedicated equipment.

We’re waiting for confirmation, then transport for him.

A few more #northernlights in #kentucky photos taken at 10:30pm

Ok, this is really cool.

The clouds in the first photo cleared up and now I can see the Northern Lights all the way down here in central Kentucky.

Matt’s definitely going to be here for another night; he’s actually pretty sick. He would have been a lot worse if I hadn’t insisted we go to the ED yesterday. Trying not to overshare and not overreact at the same time.
November 11, 2025 at 7:49 PM
So... I'm back home, while Matt gets to spend at least one night at the hospital. He's NPO until further notice, and since he hasn't had anything to eat or drink since 2 this morning, better part of valor to leave and let the staff deal with him

[Seriously, morphine helps but was wearing off...]

And… he’s being admitted again (taken this long to make the decision).
Narrator: She was so wrong. Not even an hour after posting, she was trying to drive her husband back to the emergency department, on icy, oh so icy, roads.

They survived the drive, only to arrive with multiple EMS patients coming in.

How long will they wait for tests? Only time will tell.
I never mind pretty snow when I don't have anywhere to go. We have about an inch on the ground from overnight. It has just started snowing again, though. I have no idea how much more we're expecting today.

Meanwhile, there's hot coffee to drink, sewing videos to watch, and relaxing to do.

Matt is still limited as far as lifting goes for another week. I managed to get myself dressed and took the trash & recycling to the curb for pickup tomorrow morning.

I haven't pulled out the winter coat yet; I figured I'd just layer up.

Folks, it's COLD out there in the blowing wind & light snow.
November 9, 2025 at 11:35 PM
Yeah, there might be a reason why it looks and feels like snowy-time out there. I'm not heading outside any time soon.
November 9, 2025 at 6:48 PM
I had plans for today; so many things to get done outside.

Instead, I spent the day either cuddled in my robe or sleeping. Here's hoping my garden hose doesn't split in the sub-30F weather between now and Wednesday.

Fibro flares suck so much.

Great news, Kentucky. We’ve been notified that the @USDA will fully fund SNAP benefits for the month of November. These funds help feed Kentucky families who need it most, and they should never have been delayed.
