(The questions of whether test scores accurately predict academic or career success and how disability affects academic and career success are obviously a huge topic that I’m not going to get into)

If people who receive accommodations do better…maybe more people should be receiving accommodations.

Not everyone has the time, money, or resources to do all of that.

And to do any of that in the first place, there is so much I needed to learn. I have spent countless hours to educate myself, bought books, consulted professionals, and talked to my network of friends and neighbors to learn from their experiences.

There have been referrals, long wait lists, and appointments to obtain necessary help and documentation (fortunately our health insurance coverage was pretty good)

There have been school district assessments, teacher conferences, check-ins, and IEP meetings

Agreed, and have a plan for what to do if you accidentally end up in the vicinity of ICE activity with a kid or kids. Because I was not expecting that when it happened to me!

The intensity of my kid’s paleontology phase has made me a paleontology enthusiast for life, although I guess I was primed for it early on because I grew up picnicking at the Walcott-Rust quarry.

I’m so sad I missed it this year, the kids were just extremely not up for an evening out.

For sure. Although for people who have to worry about calories per dollar mushrooms are not super helpful.

It’s way cheaper if you don’t buy meat substitutes, but also going that route means relying heavily on legumes, which can be pretty time consuming and requires a certain amount of cooking experience.

Looks like it might be some kind of leaf miner insect, which will probably not affect the plant’s ability to produce beans.
