This Nebraska mom wonders why our Attorney General has nothing better to spend time & our taxpayer resources on? Can't believe it's now our state's official position to criminally punish corporations that determine diversity, equity & inclusion are good for business! /1

Ok guys, what can we do? I'm serious. Stopping NIH and NSF grants (and more coming, I'm sure) is apocalyptic for US science, universities, research institutes, small businesses, CROs... The ramifications for the economy alone are devastating.

Universities cannot survive without this funding. These grants employ tens of thousands of researchers, and brings bring billions of dollars into their institutions. The indirect costs literally keep the lights on. I can't even.

By 51-50, we now have a deeply compromised, unqualified, D-list Fox host running the US military at the command of a convicted felon who once hosted a reality show.

The UNMC Gender & Sexuality Resources Center webpage is gone & has closed. This means students lose access to resources & support if they've experienced sexual violence, have sexual health needs (birth control), are pregnant (ultrasounds), are a parent (ex: diapers) & much more.

I've been outspoken in my own research field on the need for representation because it is a SCIENTIFIC NECESSITY as well as a matter of equity and justice. These moves are a denial of science.

Nebraska - we have a problem. Contact your state representative and request them not to support this nonsense. Nebraska is fortunate to have strong public schools but only if we can continue to recruit high quality students into the field of education.

Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research.

I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.
NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.
