Thoughts on Pope Leo XIV from your progressive Catholic theologian friend:
- The Name Says a Lot
- He represents the Americas, not just the U.S.
- In step with Francis, but in his own way

Trump suggests stripping Harvard's 501(c)3 status as political retribution for standing up to him.

It will not stop with Harvard, the goal is to do this to all civil society organizations that oppose him, including orgs like the ACLU. He's trying to destroy all political opposition.

NEW: If you paid taxes for 2024, you likely paid $3,707 for weapons and war, from Pentagon contractors to nuclear weapons.

That's more than you paid for Medicaid ($1,823), the Department of Education ($787), and the National Institutes of Health ($149) combined.

We need to reprioritize. #TaxDay

We need more of this—and more solidarity:

“No government—regardless of which party is in power—should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue.”

Murphy: "We need to act like a real opposition party in the middle of a constitutional and democracy crisis. That means we should not be moving forward nominees or legislation in the Senate. Ds should not be giving votes to nominee or legislation in the Senate until Rs get serious about this crisis"

It's time to start protesting with our $. Also important: corporations need to hear that the reversals lead to loss. I'm making sure they hear from me, if you need an e-mail template happy to share one.

Trump was outraged by Bishop Budde’s remarks, and predictably so. Those vested with an abundance of worldly power should find the radical Christian message of mercy hard to hear, Elizabeth Bruenig writes:
Bishop Budde Delivered a Truly Christian Message
Exhortations for mercy are never easy for the powerful to hear.
