It also feeds into the "duopoly" bs. To be fair there is a lot of truth that many democratic politicians are very bad ... but it has nothing to do with them being democrats ... it is because of the systemic issue where $$$ have all of the power.

My thinking is that when people say "Democrats" this or "Democratic Party" that ... they are typically implying "I'm not a Democratic, there is this OTHER group of people, that I'm not in, that is to blame". It is a way for not taking personal responsibility.
