The 97-year-old WWII veteran told his hospice nurse he was afraid he'd die forgotten.

He feared no one would attend his funeral.

And yet...
He had no family. He was not famous. Yet hundreds attended this WWII veteran's funeral.
World War II veteran Stephen Kolesnik told his hospice nurse "he feared no one would attend his funeral." More than 200 people showed up.

He asked if various people will die. When he asked “will daddy die?”, and I told him yes, he paused to think then said… “our dogs will be really, really sad”.

I was touched by his empathy 🥹 My husband, while initially touched, was alarmed that only the dogs will be bereft 😆
