Maybe I am ruffling feathers for no reason. However, EDI represents hand wavy “we aren’t racist we promise” behaviour. Equity would be more concerned with building a project for its community good.

I think where my problem occurs is that the question literally says “consider EDI” and that rubs me the wrong way. If I am building an automated waste treatment plant I should really consider the impact it has , the community benefits, the importance of sustainability, the land it’s built on etc.

#equity is in EDI ! I hear you type! However the context it’s used in EDI is primarily understood in professional practice to be related to hiring. The stakeholders of the project , its environmental impact and other considerations fall under the larger term of equity.

The only sensible answer to this question is to consider AODA , the equitable employment act and Charter of rights and freedom. #EDI is a policy by organizations to have equitable hiring. Which is important. However a waste manage facility also needs to consider equity.
