NC’s largest caterpillar, the Hickory Horned Devil (Citheronia regalis, 15cm long)! Finding one at this maturity is rare due to birds, parasites, and disease. It will burrow under ground and emerge as a Regal Moth next year! #CitheroniaRegalis #bugsky
A pale green Hickory Horned Devil caterpillar on top of leaf debris. It is approximately 6 inches long! Each end is golden in color. One end has horn like structures. Even though it looks dangerous, it is harmless to humans. hickoryhorneddevil regalmoth caterpillars inverts invertebrates biodiversity ecology wildlifegarden ecosystem backyardwildlife

I sure hope you get the rain. I have family there and hear about it. I can’t believe how dry it has been. Plus the hurricane a few years back dropped so many evergreens down. It’s like a tinder box. 😢

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

mute the noise

Mid frame tall skinny trees all but touch the low cloud covered sky. A dash of sun illuminates the clouds and in the distance a sliver of blue. Taken in a meadow of bramble & bush, muted colours mesh together in a quiet scene. In the distance a thick dense forest is barely visible.

You can joke about Pam Bondi’s ridiculous unprofessionalism all you want, but I’m deeply shocked by it: She acts as if she fears absolutely no consequences, convinced that there will be no more political power transfers. — This should shake everyone to their core.
