Peel Mills, Horbury, W. Yorks which dates from 1855. It was run by yarn manufacturer William Schofield. In 1929 & 1932 it was available to be let out & was described as having 4 floors, about 1 acre floor, electric crane & good water supply. /1

This is so sad to see. The owner of the Grade 2 listed 200 year old former home of suffragette Edith Rigby, Winckley Square, Preston, Lancs has been told to carry out repairs in the next 2 weeks. Rigby was jailed 7 times as a suffragette. 👇

The City Gate Hotel, Lower North Street is the site of the old North Gate of Exeter & has part of the ancient city wall in its cellar. It was previously the Crown and Sceptre Inn which dates from 1770 & was rebuilt from an earlier inn by Johnny Doe. It was near the entrance to the city from North /1

Devon with stagecoaches dropping their passengers off here. In 1834 the Crown & Sceptre was rebuilt in red brick with stucco bands at some 20 feet higher due to the construction of the Iron Bridge which elevated the road. The pub was popular with students up to the late 1980's. It closed in 1991 /2
