Greg Palast saw me through the Bush years. I thought those were bad. Who knew things could get much, much worse?

I think that's partly right. But also our weak worker protections and social safety net can spell financial ruin for families if people lose their jobs while out on strike and/or protesting. Just the way the moneyed class likes it.

I can't help but feel we are disadvantaged by having our capital in a metro area that's not one of our largest population centers and that's stocked with govt workers and purveyors.
