Ironic: Gartner had my post ridiculing Gartner removed. The one that shared Gartner's Magic Quadrant about AI Code Assistants, which does not include Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and ranks Amazon above Cursor.

This one: github.blog/ai-and-ml/gi...

Are they embarrassed to share their Magic Quadrant?

Organizing teams around "coders" is an exercise in futility.

True Developers take ownership and solve problems. True Engineers apply scientific rigor and ensure Continuous Delivery. What do you think? Are we enabling true engineering, or are we stuck in the "coder" mindset?

I'd like your input. Would the following pricing model work, and if so, what metrics would fairly assess improvement?

I've been pondering a value-based pricing model for longer-term consulting work.

Hey managers: Want to create a product faster? Easy. Remove the friction that you impose on the teams. When you don't impede the team's work, they can work blindingly fast. "Slow" is not the team's fault, it's yours.

Us developers have learned the hard way that:

1. Prototyping is more like 10% of the actual work - even though the business folks thinks we're 90% done

2. Shipping prototypes to production is possible but generally a bad idea

Vibe coding is prototyping. Others will learn - soon

Technical Agile: Tiny iterations, continuous deployment, fast feedback from actual customers, adjust based on that feedback. Continuously improve the way you work.

Or at a high level: Work small, talk to each other, make people's lives better.

People in the Scrum camp sometimes panic when they can’t finish a story within the Sprint, which they classify as a failure. That’s not actually how it works.

Tell me about your process.

No, not your "agile framework" or your KPIs or how you write and process tickets.

I mean your at-the-keyboard creative, disciplined programming process.

What do you do that keeps your coding safe, reliable, quick, and correct?
