Degen är klar och ska nu vila i en halvtimme innan jag skär upp den i bitar och formar lussebullarna som sen ska jäsa hela natten.

The dough is ready and now is left to rest for half an hour before I cut it into pieces and form the lussebullar (saffron rolls) that will need to prove overnight.

This is not going to help me stay awake until late to make my lussebullar. It is very enjoyable, though. It's Spanish and utterly delicious.

In the episode about Old Norse of a language podcast I listened to today mention was made of Pro-Norse and the oldest runestone in the world found in Norway about 4 years ago. I had the pleasure to admire the fascinating stone, called Svingerudsteinen or Holesteinen in Norwegian, in 2023 in Oslo.

Reading "Sendemann Huskuld" ("Huskuld the Herald") by the wonderful Vesaas in this old edition is far far nicer than reading it (or any book for that matter) as an Ebook. Love the feel, the smell and the colour of the pages.

The Norwegian novel "Sendemann Huskuld" (in English "Huskuld the Herald"). It's a second edition from 1924, the year the novel was first published by Olaf Norlis Forlag in Oslo (at the time still called Kristiania). A candle is burning beside the book.

I read Fosse's "Vaim" in one sitting last night. It's not long (182 pages, in this Norwegian edition), and the absence of chapters and fullstops makes for an irresistible reading flow that almost can't be stopped. Fosse's language is riveting.
Yet another excellent novel by this Norwegian master.

Breakfast this morning: Swedish 'messmör' ('whey butter') on toast. As its colour may suggest, messmör is related to Norwegian bronost ('brown cheese') and comes originally from parts of Sweden that not only border but also have been parts of Norway in the past.
Some love it (I do) & some hate it.
