Views this afternoon from #Savudrija #Salvore, the northwestern tip of #Istria 🇭🇷: ships to, and from, #Koper 🇸🇮 and #Trieste 🇮🇹 are passing in front of the #Dolomites mountain range, which is about 100 kms away. Only the autumn months provide these views.

seit Monaten macht irgendein Viech fast jede Nacht vor unserer Haustür seinen Haufen hin. Ich hatte mir schon vorgenommen, dem Übeltäter aufzulauern, schlaf ich halt eine Nacht nix.
Den Abbildungen auf dieser Karte nach, isses am ehesten Bär.
Und jetzt bin ich etwas verunsichert.

beide Orte sind nicht weit voneinander entfernt, und durch die “Via del Mercato” Wanderroute (sowie praktisch stündliche Züge) verbunden. Warum nicht dazwischen? Direkt beim Bahnhof in Re “Trattoria Gargino” mit sehr einfachen, günstigen Zimmern oder in Camedo die Osteria Grütli.

Going through the photos taken yesterday on board the #ÖBB 🇦🇹 #EuroCity #Transalpin to #Graz. Because of track works further north, the train is diverted via #Villach, an occasion to enjoy some “faux cab-ride” views from the last car of the consist, as we travel along the scenic #Tauernbahn line.

Impressions from today’s ride along, and through, the Austrian Alps on board #EuroCity #Transalpin. Such a voyage wouldn’t be complete without lunch in the #ÖBB 🇦🇹 #DiningCar, obviously.

Interesting. Thanks for the link Daniel. That would be a Swiss dining car then, including on EC 163/164, in a consist exclusively composed of Swiss stock, with a 1st class open plan car, next to the Pano.

Good morning from the #EuroCity #Transalpin #DiningCar. This is one of the few “full diners” remaining with #ÖBB 🇦🇹. There are plenty of seats available. An ideal place to enjoy breakfast as we pass by the lakeside just after leaving #Zurich🇨🇭.

Impressions from a ride over the #Vigezzina 🇮🇹 metre gauge line earlier this week. I travelled on the afternoon regional for #Domodossola, a service, on the Italian section of the line, usually worked by a 1950s SSIF ABe8/8 unit. It comes with opening windows, very much to the photographer’s delight.

A hike in lovely Valle #Vigezzo 🇮🇹 yesterday, starting from the beautiful villages in the valley: a “mulattiera” (mule path 🫏) leads up to the mountain pastures.

eastbound, towards Locarno, that front seat next to the driver is a 2nd class one, and it's a single seat. (The 1st class car on this "Panoramico" trainsets is on the "Domodossola end".)

On the #Domodossola 🇮🇹 to #Locarno🇨🇭#Vigezzina #Centovalli narrow gauge line today. I’m travelling on a #VigezzoVision #Panoramico train, in a first row seat, right next to the engine driver. It comes with cab-ride views on the line ahead, and on the beautiful scenery. (Seat reservation was 4.00 EUR.)

#Villefort 🇫🇷 on the #Cévennes line in September 2020, a place, in rural France, full of old railway charm. An #SNCF Class #B81500 #AGC #BGC dual-mode, diesel and electric, unit is entering the station. This is a #TER regional service from #Nîmes to #Clermont-Ferrand.

A photo taken on the #Brenner 🇮🇹🇦🇹 line in September 1982: this is the northbound #Rome to #Munich “Alpen Express” arriving at #Chiusa/#Klausen station. The long consist is hauled by two locos, an #FS Class E.636 and an E.656 electric.

On board the #DB 🇩🇪 #NachtZug #Talgo night train from #Hamburg Altona to #Augsburg in June 2007: a Class 101 electric is hauling the train as far as #Munich Hbf. This is also a car-carrying train: vehicles will be unloaded at Munich East.

Going through photos taken on this day in 2023, in #Ukraine 🇺🇦. I travelled by train from #Chernivtsi to #Lviv.

I am still overwhelmed when I think of the people I met in this country: witnessing their kindness, their resilience and their courage has been a very moving experience.

bin in Salzburg Stadt aufgewachsen, da gabs einen Richard Hörl, Bäcker/Konditor und Gründungsmitglied der "Bürgerliste", einer der ersten Grünparteien im Land. Dieser Hörl hatte sich besonders für den Landschafts- und vor allem für den Grünlandschutz engagiert gehabt. Möglicherweise nicht verwandt.
